Within my first week of being abroad, I have quickly noticed some differences between Spain and the United States. One of the first differences that caught my attention, almost immediately I might add, was the fashion. Compared to the United States, Spain fashion is much dressier and much more chic.
Another aspect of Spanish culture that differs from the United States is their lack of emotion and interaction when meeting people who are new or different. In the United States, people are generally very friendly and welcoming in most cities. In Spain, people don't smile or look at others on the street, in stores or on the metro.
Finally, the eating schedule in Spain is much later and more drawn out than in the United States. This wasn't too hard to get used to since I usually work late at home. However, I cannot see myself ever having enough energy to go out bars until 4am or later.
